Welcome, Down Shadow Lane!

If you've wondered how I go about choosing sponsors, it's real simple - I invite stores that I truly love to shop with!

Jen (Down Shadow Lane) and I must share similar taste in fabric, because time and time again she's carried my favorite lines (like Modern Meadow - she still has my favorite print!) and stocked basics that are just my style.

Take this set of  the "bud" print from Sugar Pop:

Ok, really?  I'll take them all please.  I just adore simple tonal prints! And, when you put them all together in one glorious stack?  So. hard. to. resist.  I stashed only the brown buds, which you know I really needed after finishing my green and brown Sixth Time's the Charm.

Down Shadow Lane also has a complete set of the mod trees from Sugar Pop.  Aria says they're lollipops.  Either way - adorable and so very "summer", yes?

Besides fun, current lines, Down Shadow Lane also has a surprising selection of much-loved, out of print fabrics.  She has lots of prints by Denyse Schmidt, including ones from Katie Jump Rope and County Fair.  There's also some old Heather Ross and even some of Anna Maria's Garden Party.

But I must have been in a bit of a serious mood when I did my shopping with Down Shadow Lane, cause I spent most of my funds stocking up on big cuts of the Eliza stripe by Jennifer Paganelli.

At just $6 a yard, it's a great spend.  I used some of this stripe in my secret magazine quilt and the size of the stripe was ideal.  I love me a good basic!

But basics aside, for fun I added a half yard cut of this playful print from It's a Hoot by Momo, which happens to go perfectly with the brown buds.

On the same day that it arrived, a friend sent me some cute buttons that seemed absolutely designed to match the print!

buttons!

Look, they pull out every single color! Now I'm wishing I had bought a larger cut of the print since I'm thinking it'd make such a sweet spring sundress for Aria.  Maybe I'll piece some cuts together to make it work.  I'm not so keen on making clothes, but a dress should be easy enough, right?  I just hope things go better than last time!

So, please do stop by Down Shadow Lane sometime when you're ready to treat yourself.  Or, you know, if you desperately need scraps for some crazy quilt-along, you might find yourself in scrap-heaven with her custom designer scrap bags.  I'm a sucker for Joel Dewberry myself!

  6. I'm a huge Joel Dewberry fan too. His fabric was the first that I fell in love with when I started sewing. I haven't used it nearly as much as I'd like. In fact, I've been wanting to make my boys quilts from the more masculine prints in modern meadow...I just need to practice my quilt making first. :)
