Batting Giveaway!

What?  A batting giveaway?

misc 039small

Yep.  I said it was practical!  But, really, have you ever found yourself ready to baste and {oops!} you're plum out of batting?  It happens to me.  This time I stocked up and the lovely folks at the Warm Company sent so many that I thought I'd give one away to you as well!

So, you can call this the "oh-so-practical-Rachel-it's-boring" giveaway OR the "cool-I-needed-that" giveaway. Because you probably do need this - it's a FULL sized batting, which would be perfect for a Bottled Rainbow quilt or just about anything else. Measures 90 x 96".

And in case you're wondering, this is totally my go-to batting.  I like that it's a natural fiber, doesn't need preshrinking and allows me to quilt up to 10" apart.  The whole "no chemicals, glues, or resins" statement makes me like it too.  Just cotton please!

So, do you want it?  Just add your comment here.  Feel free to tell me about your favorite batting, if you like.  I'm all ears!  And if you desperately need batting, you can earn an extra entry for blogging or tweeting about the giveaway.  US-only entries please, this package will be a little heavy to ship internationally.  I'll draw a random winner on Saturday!

Winner to be announced soon!

  2. I need this! I'm in the middle of making my very first quilt- full size!

  3. I'm JUST as excited about possibly winning a practical giveaway like this as I was about the Kona solid fat quarters giveaway!

I love that you can quilt up to 10" apart. I have a hand quilting project sitting by, and I don't want to have to do any more than that to it.

  4. Warm & Natural is my favorite batting. I like my quilts with a low loft and easy to quilt. Thanks for a chance to win .....

    ReplyDelete
  5. I use this brand too and absolutely love it. I stocked up in the warm and white last time it was on sale and I am already almost out :)

  6. W&N is usually my go-to batting because of the price (but double-check your package, it's not 100% cotton, more like 80% - they don't assert 100% anywhere that I've ever seen). If I want 100% cotton, I go with Quilter's Dream.

  7. I love this or warm n white. Great giveaway!

    ReplyDelete
  8. Awesome. I'm working a quilt top that is getting closer to needing some batting.

    ReplyDelete
  9. I am new to using the all-cotton or the cotton/poly blend and I can't think of any reason why I'd ever go back! Thanks for the chance to win.

  10. Oh what a great giveaway! Quilters always need batting! This is my favorite batting too. If I have a REALLY special project I'll go with Quilter's Dream, but since I usually have to pay full price for that one I tend to not use it as much.

  11. This is a perfect giveaway! I love warm & natural too!

    ReplyDelete
  12. This is my favorite batting EVER! I usually buy a package when it's on sale at Joann's - even if I don't have a project for it. I also hoard all the large scraps and piece them together for smaller projects. Practical? Yes. Awesome giveaway? Yes.

  13. oh yes, I LOVE this batting...and it's my final "need" for my Postage Stamp Quilt!! To win would be divine!

    ReplyDelete
  14. Wahoo! I LOVE warm and natural. I just used my last bit of batter...and would love to win!

  15. I'd love to try this batting. I haven't used a 100% cotton batting yet and have been wanting to try it to compare to what I already use (which I love!) just to have a better idea of how fiber affects texture. I currently use a 50% bamboo/ 50% cotton blend from Fiber Fill. I love that it is so breathable and light but also provides great warmth. They say it's thermal properties allow it to breathe better than straight cotton. Quiltable up to 8" apart and only 2-3% shrinkage when washed. Love it!

  16. oh man, I need batting too! I haven't used this one yet, but I just picked up a baby quilt sized one from the store a couple of weeks back. That will work for my daughter's quilt, but I'm also in the middle of piecing for my son's (which will be bigger).

    ReplyDelete
  17. I have never used 100% cotton batting, and would love to give it a try! I just bought cotton/poly blend for my bottled rainbows quilt and hope it is a decent choice! I think this is a great giveaway!

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  21. I use warm and white for my special projects and for baby blankets and other smaller projects, I use a polyester fluffy batting from Joanns. Would love to win and try out this new batting on the queen sized blanket I just started! Thanks for the great giveaway opportunity!

    ReplyDelete
  22. Warm and Natural is my go to batting too. Either that or Warm & White. Sort of depends what on sale and available at Joann's when the need arises. Thanks for the opportunity to enter your fantastic giveaway!

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  30. what an awesome giveaway!! Warm and natural is my go to as well!!!

    ReplyDelete
  31. I usually use Warm and White. I quilt with lots of white and have noticed that the color of the warm and natural sometimes shows through a bit, but I would definitely love to use this. I have a quilt on the design wall right now that needs some batting.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Oh! I think I'm gonna need some of that stuff since I'm working on my first quilt. Right?

    ReplyDelete
  33. This is my favorite batting! I have to travel 45 minutes to get batting, so I know the feeling about having everything ready except for forgetting the batting. Then I have to wait until I have time to drive. This is a great giveaway!

    ReplyDelete
  34. Ohhh I would love this! This is my favorite too. daniellephillipp (at) gmail (dot) com

  35. Great giveaway - I love practical!! Especially since I'm just finishing two large-ish quilts, so the batting stash will be hurting soon. Warm & Natural is awesome!

    ReplyDelete
  36. This is my #1 used batting also. Love to win!

    ReplyDelete
  37. Warm & Natural WHITE is my go to batting, although I do get the natural when it is a killer deal at JoAnn's. I like to have the white on hand just in case the quilt I am making has white background and/or batting.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I use this as well and love it. I have also used organic bamboo, but it's expensive. Thanks for the give away.

    ReplyDelete
  39. i love warm and natural...i've also used warm and white and love it too!

  46. Warm and Natural is what I've always used because it's what my mom uses. I like the idea of it being 100 % cotton (though I don't know why).

    ReplyDelete
  47. warm & natural is my favorite! i love the loft. it IS warm but not heavy!

    ReplyDelete
  48. I LOVE that batting. That's what I used for most of my quilts. Super friendly to work with, makes for very warm but lightweight quilts. Thanks for the giveaway!

    ReplyDelete
  49. Oh, cool! I need that :)

I usually use Warm & Natural or Warm & White.

    ReplyDelete
  50. this is a great giveaway! i always use warm and natural. i tried another brand once about a year ago and i really disliked how the quilt came out. never again!

    ReplyDelete
  51. i use warm & natural and it's fine. however pottery barn kids has some quilts that are a bit heavier but not too much. i wonder what that batting would be.

    ReplyDelete
  52. I just switched to Warm and Natural on the very quilt that is pinned to the floor right now! I had used it once and liked it but had stocked up on "the other stuff". When you mentioned it the other day I decided to go with it for this one. I pulled it out of the bag and thought "why can't this be a quilt? Its so soft!" hehe.

    ReplyDelete
  53. I've only ever used warm and natural. So I have nothing to compare it to, but I really like it. And I'm always running out! :)

  54. I'm loving this practical giveaway! Sometimes the practical things are what I hate spending my money on most. =)

I used Warm and White and Warm and Natural for all my quilts. I used a polyester batting once and hated it so much. This cotton batting is definitely the way to go.

    ReplyDelete
  55. I'm all about the natural too. I've only made 1 other quilt and this is what I used. I think this is the PERFECT giveaway. Love it!!

    ReplyDelete
  56. Awesome practical giveaway! A girl can never have too much batting :) I've always used Warm & Natural, but I've tried a few others at Jo-Ann's that were 80/20 blends I didn't love.

    ReplyDelete
  57. I love Warm and Natural! I had to use another 100% cotton batting on a quilt recently as Joanns was out of stock when I needed it. It was terrible. Lumpy and stretched in some places and tight in others. Never again! What a great giveaway.

I also like another Warm and Natural batting, but I've not found it packaged. My Wal-mart sells a blend of cotton and bamboo, it's so soft! But I can only get it by the yard so it's not as cost efficient.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Brilliant! I just this very minute finished quilting my very first ever quilt (just a little baby one) and this is the very same batting I used. So far I like it. :)

    ReplyDelete
  59. My bed needs a new quilt....maybe winning some batting will help me get motivated to start!

    ReplyDelete
  60. I'm quite new to quilting, and in the past have only used synthetics, but have been wanting to try this. :)

    ReplyDelete
  64. oh goodness, what a great giveaway!! This is my favorite batting to use as well! Love the stuff.

    ReplyDelete
  65. I always use warm and natural, but I have never used this particular die free etc no prewash type. It's awfully intriguing.

The only time I haven't used warm and natural was for a baby quilt where someone wanted extra loft--it was horrible to work with and pilled soemthing awful!

    ReplyDelete
  66. I have never tried warm and natural, but have wanted to. I am making a quilt that it would be perfect for.

    ReplyDelete
  72. What a fantastic giveaway! I've tried a couple of others just so I could say that I have but so far Warm and Natural is by far my favorite.

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  74. Warm and Natural is the best batting! Love to win some since I am just making my first quilt.

    So pick me, ok? ;)

    ReplyDelete
  76. When churning out quilts like crazy, it's best to keep batting on hand. I'm always running out!

    ReplyDelete
  77. Oh what a shame - I live in the UK! And guess what? I've just finished piecing a quilt top for my friend's birthday, went to my local quilt shop to get some more batting and it was shut!!! Oh well, never mind. Good luck to you lucky people in the US x

    ReplyDelete
  78. I've had good luck with Hobbs Thermore and I also like Fairfield Bamboo. I'd love to try this batting though since it is a favorite with quilters everywhere. Thanks for the chance :-)

    ReplyDelete
  79. Oh I am always in need of batting....I have 3 quilt projects in mind but batting for only one...oops!! So this would certainly come in handy!!

    ReplyDelete
  80. i'm always in need of batting at the worst times! so i could definitely use this. hope i win!!

    great giveaway!

    bess :)

    ReplyDelete
  83. I like the Warm and Natural and Warm and White Batting too. Thanks for the chance!

    ReplyDelete
  84. What a great idea for a giveaway! W&N is the best batting ever! And I've used it straight from the bag, tumbled in the dryer to get the wrinkles out, ironed, prewashed, any way you can think and it always comes out right. I need some very soon for my upcoming quilt as you go experiment!

    ReplyDelete
  85. I have to say I've never heard of prewashing batting. Would love to try this batting.

    ReplyDelete
  86. I think this is a great giveaway and this is the batting brand that I always use!

    ReplyDelete
  87. I only use this batting and could really use it right now as I am doing two of your quiltalongs at once, the colorbrick and the bottled rainbow.

    ReplyDelete
  88. I have so many quilts to baste and not so much batting, so this would come in handy right now! I've never used W&N, but I've heard it is wonderful.

    ReplyDelete
  89. I've only used what was most readily available, Hobbs 80/20, and I always buy it with a coupon. I do have some 100 percent cotton in reserve that I haven't tried yet, brand name escapes me. It makes me feel good having rolls of batting in reserve. Thanks for the giveaway!

    ReplyDelete
  90. I love anything cotton- especially if it's organic. great giveaway- I love practical and free stuff!

    ReplyDelete
  91. Awesome! I always use warm & natural or quilter's dream. On my colorbricks quilt I picked up something "all natural" at Hancock's, thinking it would be similar & it was not. While I was basting, it was tearing apart. Won't make that mistake again!

    ReplyDelete
  92. This is my favorite batting too. I am using it in quilts for the grandkids. I just found out about the quilt-a-thon from another bloggers blog and I can't wait until the first of my solids come from Pink Chalk. I joined the solid fat quarter-a-month club.

    ReplyDelete
  93. I love this batting for big quilts....I find it smushes (is that a word?) through my machine easier. So count me in!

    ReplyDelete
  94. I love this batting! It's probably my favorite, with Warm and White as a close second. I use that if the quilt has a lot of white in it.

Thanks for a great giveaway! We can all use this! : )

    ReplyDelete
  95. I need it :) I'm starting the Bottled Rainbow quilt, my first ever on my own quilt! Can't wait!

    ReplyDelete
  96. My string quilt is waiting for batting in order to get finished up...

I love this batting! Perfect weight for all my projects.

    ReplyDelete
  97. Wow, lots of people want free batting! I just wanted to tell you how much I like the ticker tape quilt. What an ingenious idea. And being able to quilt it at the same time is fantastic. It is so hard to try and wrangle a large quilt under a home sewing machine.
Thanks for all your great ideas!
Oh, and I use warm and natural too. It sews nicely and can often be found on sale. Which is always a plus!!!

    ReplyDelete
  98. oh, I want to win! recently I have made the switch from polyester to natural fiber, it's just better and softer all around!

    ReplyDelete
  99. Let's face it, you can never have too much batting. Thanks for the giveaway!

    ReplyDelete
  100. We all can use extra batting .. I'm actually fresh out and housebound so I hope I get lucky and won;t need to coax my hubby to go to JoAnn's

    ReplyDelete
  101. I love the natural cotton as well. I am however going to make my next quilt with washable wool for extra warmth. Love your blog!

    ReplyDelete
  102. Everyone I have talked to uses warm and natural so that is what I have used as I have started quilting. Great giveaway!

    ReplyDelete
  103. If I win this I promise to finally make a quilt!

    ReplyDelete
  104. Well now that I have entered the world of quilting my own quilts, this would be a fabulous win!!

    ReplyDelete
  105. Oh Imust tell you I love warm and natural but I also like wool batting for appliques'. The reason for that is because the needle glides just like butter...but for everything else it is warm and natural. Thanks for sharing.

    ReplyDelete
  106. I love this batting, it is all I use! I never have batting around when I need it, so three cheers for having such a practical yet exciting (for those like myself) giveaway!!

  110. I have always been afraid of cotton batting. I'm pretty sure it was the need for pre-shrinking the batting. If this truly is pre-shrunk I will definitely convert to cotton!

    ReplyDelete
  111. I could always use some of that!

    ReplyDelete
  112. This is sooooo not a boring giveaway, without the batting a quilt isn't a quilt.

This is my go-to batting, so winning more of it would be wonderful.

    Thanks for the opportunity!

    ReplyDelete
  113. Would love to win this! I'll need batting soon....just starting to work on a quilt for my sister.

    ReplyDelete
  114. Oo, I am getting low on batting so this would be super useful! Thanks for the chance to enter!

    ReplyDelete
  115. I'm new to quilting, and that means I'm new to the whole batting-debate. Wool or cotton or acrylic? Right now I'm trying (on my first piece, a 30" square wall-hanging) a bamboo-cotton blend - it's going alright...
I'd love to give your favorite batting a try - pick me, pick me!

    ReplyDelete
  116. I'm kind of on a roll with my quilt making and as soon as I finish one, I've got another one started! Batting will definitely come in handy!

    ReplyDelete
  117. well i will never turn down batting! I have so many quilts I'm working on right now that I NEED more! I'm trying to be industrious and use up all the scrappy pieces for the bottled rainbow quilt. Then I'm ready for a nice fresh large piece like this again!

    ReplyDelete
  118. I am a big fan of Warm and Natural and Warm and White. I even did a blog post about shrinkage - as well as one on wool batting. Did you know that the Warm and White batting shrinks the same amount lengthwise as widthwise? Not true for all battings. Good to know if you quilt as you go, or if you piece scrap batting bits together!
    Check it out on piecedgoods.wordpress.com

    ReplyDelete
  132. Who doesn't need more batting? :)
This is actually something I never keep on hand....bad me! Means I am forever running to the store to get one for a current project. Practical is perfect.

    ReplyDelete
  133. I'm pretty new to quilting, but this is the kind I've used in my finished quilts. An extra pack would come in quite handy for the charity blankets my quilt group is working on.

    Enjoy your day!

    ReplyDelete
  142. "I love this batting, and I always have"!! When I first started quilting, (I was 16) I used to fight with that thick poly/blend stuff. Hey I didnt know any better....but when I started taking classes I turned to Warm & Natural and it hasnt failed me yet!!!!

  161. I'm a Warm and Natural kind of gal, although I did just purchase the new Moda bamboo blend--can't wait to try it since bamboo was my favorite fiber (and softest) for cloth diapering.

  162. Clever giveaway! I loove using Warm & Natural - it's definitely my go to batting. :) I'm currently working on two baby quilts for my friends and will be needing batting soon *hinthint*

  163. Love the effect I get from using cotton battings... they hide my meager attempts at machine quilting and give my quilts that wrinkly look that reminds me of my grandma's quilts. Wonderful giveaway thank you. nanasew at gmail dot com

  167. This is totally an I WANT THIS AND NEED IT giveaway! I've only purchased batting once, and it was this kind. Worked perfect for what I was doing. But now I'm gearing up to make my first quilt, so this would be double-perfect.

  169. Warm and Natural is the BEST!! Absolutely the only batting we use in our quilt ministry - and we can always use more!! So pick me, pick me!!!!

  177. I like warm and natural too - and it happens that I need some batting and haven't gotten around to going out and buying some!

    ReplyDelete
  178. Warm and natural & warm and white are my onlys!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  179. Yep, I'm a warm and natural girl all the way too! I either have to order or stock up when I get to the city (3 hrs away), since no one carries it here. There is only one tiny shop in town.

  180. Who doesn't need batting! I myself use the exact same brand & everything. Love the natural properties. Not much for Polyester batting. I hope I win!

  181. I'm new to all this, and I have only ever have tried Warm and White - I assume this is pretty much the same? I guess I need to learn a bit about batting :)

  182. I can ALWAYS use batting, and W&N is a favorite. I like to space out the quilting more when I use it so it's softer and not so intensely quilted. Thanks!

  183. I wish batting were more fun to buy, but I'd always rather spend my money on fabric. Sigh...

  184. I am just about done making my first (!) quilt. :) I am using warm and natural and loving it....I definitely see it as being my go-to batting :)

    ReplyDelete
  185. What a great idea for a giveaway! I have more fabric than I will probably ever use, but I'm always running out of batting. Thanks for the chance!

  186. I almost always choose Warm and Natural, too. I think the only times I haven't is when Mountain Mist was on sale, or something. I used to work at Joann's, and we had quite a few customers who would buy an entire bolt of W&N at once! Crazy! :)
