Tis the Season

Popcorn Garland

By far one of my favorite Christmas traditions is only in its second year. What is it about popcorn and cranberries?

The making.

the making

Every year the kids eat some of the stale popcorn, insisting it still tastes good. No butter... no salt. I guess this is what happens when you feed kids like we do.

I wonder, what are some of your favorite holiday traditions?

he's stringing the thread...

Yes, Liam is threading the spool. Silly boy.

Oh, by the way, I promise I am making things this week. But most of it is needlework and going so slowly. Then some of it is not to share yet, so that leaves me a bit empty handed.

Tonight I just may put an invisible zipper in a pillow. Or maybe I'll just play with fabric. I think I need to start another quilt pronto.  I've been waiting, waiting for a missing bee block....

  1. where do you get cranberries that look like that? It's lovely to see your children.

  2. We always make paper snowflakes and paper chains until our house looks like something from the movie "Elf". It's so much fun to watch the house grow steadily more and more silly as December goes on. Popcorn and cranberries are one thing I've always wanted to try, though...maybe this will be the year!! :)

  3. My cranberries are fresh ones from the grocery store! I believe people in the south make fresh cranberry sauce and whatnot with them. If you make a garland, be sure to let your popcorn get stale! It helps it not to break while you're stringing. Have fun!

  4. Aww I love this idea!! I'm withholding starting traditions til next year when G really understands what's going on so this is something I will def. have to do with him!!

And thank you for your sweet comment on my blog. :) So glad we're blogger friends!

  5. we do this every year too! we are doing ours this afternoon with my mom who is visiting from CA. We make lots of paper chains too.

  6. I grew up making popcorn and cranberry garlands with my grandmother, it's still one of my favorite traditions for my own tree. That and my entire family haggling over which tree to get.

  7. This looks so much fun! I'll admit I cheated and put up my old trusty wooden "cranberries" this year. =)
