Green Squared for Rainbow Around the Block

Anna Maria Horner's Rainbow Around the Block Flickr pool has been lacking in the green department.  Now green is my favorite color, so we can't have that.  My heart was set on making a stacked books design like this beauty from The Sometimes Crafter:

I gathered my green fabric scraps and studied and studied then.  Alas, I could not get them to cooperate!  They insisted on being made in this 3" square mosaic instead.

Green Squared

I was quite pleasantly surprised to find this style of block goes together like lightning (which we've been having a lot of lately).  Seriously, if you chain piece, it's a snap.  I'm thinking that this style of block would be perfect for the quilt I'm dreaming up for our first do. Good Stitches {a Charity Bee}.  You can follow that link to find our Flickr group, complete with all the specifics of how this quilting bee is designed.  Spots are filling up (hurrah!), so please request an invite if you'd like to join us!

  1. Sometimes the fabric has a mind of its own. I find it is best to let them have their way. Just like you did with this green block. I like the mix of greens.

  2. Rachel those are so pretty! I love green too. Btw Katie at just put a tutorial for the spiderweb blocks. It's a donwloadable PDF file u can get at her blog. Have fun!

  3. I like all the greens together ...I find that I like green a lot lately, but don't have much of it in my stash. I need to fix that. :) I also think all the varied greens would look good in the stacked block... I think you should do one just for fun so we can all see. ;)

  4. That would be cool, but I don't have enough fabric! Several of the printed scraps I used were charm squares, which is why I really couldn't do a stacked block. I do need to make something stacked though. With Christmas on my mind, it just might be a Christmas tree...

  5. How funny - I just started working on a tote (to be a library tote) with a stacked book look, inspired by Anna's drawing room fabric print with the stacked solid colors. Love everything I am seeing up there!
